FOUNDER’S BLOG – OUR LEATHER
The finest leather in the world comes from the grasslands of Argentina known as the Pampas. Without having to hardly move at all, the cattle feed in the deep grass all day long. Since they barely have to move in order to eat, they don’t scratch their skin nor grow tough muscles.
Unfortunately, Argentina law does not permit the export of their leather—only finished leather products.
In the rest of world including Mexico, cattle must roam the range in order to find enough grass to eat. In the process of searching for grass they scratch their skin on large stones, barbed wire and other hazards which scars large portions of their hides. They also get bitten by ticks which leave ugly pock marks on the lower parts their hide.
At Brand X Huaraches we have sourced a special breed of cattle which by their own nature do not like to move around much. They mostly just stand around so they have to be fed by humans. Also, there is not a tick problem in this region of Mexico.
Logically, leather tanned from the hides of these steers is more costly. Unlike other huarache makers, Brand X huaraches uses this superior leather exclusively which is the foundation of our luxury line of huaraches—geat leather in; great huaraches out. That’s how we make “The Best Huaraches on Earth”!
